Abril Typeface Poster
Objective
Research and develop a typographic poster that not only showcases but celebrates a singular Typeface. This task demands a strategic use of only three carefully selected colors to ensure that the Typeface remains the focal point of the design. The challenge lies in effectively leveraging these constraints to highlight the unique qualities and potential of the Typeface. Through this process, you'll not only demonstrate your skill in typographic design but also your ability to create visually compelling and coherent compositions within a limited color scheme. The ultimate goal is to produce a piece that not only stands out for its design excellence but also pays homage to the artistry of typography.
Solution
Abril is a beautiful, bold Typeface that evokes a bubbly and fun aesthetic. The Abril font family was specially created for intensive editorial use in newspapers, magazines, and digital media. Therefore, I wanted to create a poster that looked like a simplified editorial spread you could see in a magazine like Cosmopolitan, Seventeen, or Elle. The blush tones were chosen to represent femininity and strength. I used darker colors as shadows to show the balance between the different weights and the Regular Abril Typeface. Overall, this poster was created to be an informative representation of the elegant and versatility of the Abril Typeface.
