Makoto Shinkai is a Japanese animator, filmmaker, author, and manga artist that has created some of the most profitable anime movies of all time.  Shinkai brings his films to life not only through his illustrations and bright saturated hues but also by portraying the essence of life in Japan. The project is called the "Subway Separation Series". The concept is about the barriers between individuals through natural and supernatural phenomenas. Imagine yourself on a train looking through the window but, never knowing if the train will stop or if you will ever reach the other side. That is how it feels to be a character in a Makoto Shinkai movie, and it is the feeling that I wanted to depict through my design.
