Renew’d is a community closet and resource provider committed to ending clothing insecurity in Baltimore and the surrounding areas. The organization’s mission is to provide free, gently-used clothing and household items to people who need them in Baltimore and the surrounding communities, while also sharing information on a range of community resources. Their clients don’t have to prove anything to us, and they aim to support them with love, hope, and purpose as they walk on their paths towards a better future.

 

This project was created on a design team of Arlene Barrow, Zakiya Brown, Arrabi Nandakumar and I. Over 12 weeks, we crafted a cohesive, playful design to reflect not only the organization but, its founder, Laura Harrison. The nonprofit is a labor of love, and thanks to Laura’s passion and drive, it’s grown in scope and impact over the years. It now provides everything from gently-used clothes and shoes to books and pantry items to people who need them in Baltimore and the surrounding communities.

 

In Laura’s words, “You can drown where you are. When that’s all you know, that’s all you become. You need a drive to keep pushing.” She found her drive. And with love, hope, and purpose, Laura’s empowering others to find theirs without the burden of clothing insecurity.
